Summer Fun at
Tonalta!
Tonalta has really been rocking this summer!
In addition to our regular lessons, we've completed
two Tonalta Get-In-The-Band Camps and our
Children's Music camp.
Thanks to the
Commercial Music and Recording Arts
program at Lamar State College Port Arthur who
co-sponsored this year's high school Get-in-the-Band camp!
Tonalta Teaches Lamar
State College - Port Arthur Summer Discovery Classes
This summer (and as in past summers), Tonalta
assisted Lamar Port Arthur with their Discovery program.
Tonalta instructors Jon-Michael Wallace and Tyler
Henderson
taught
the Discovery music classes and Tonalta provided
the curriculum, gear, and instruments. During
the week-long program, students learn the basics of guitar, keyboard, and drums, and, at the end of the week,
they recorded a music video of the class playing as a band.
Tonalta Jamfest 2010.
Tonalta bands took the stage in May and performed at JamFest.
JamFest is Tonalta's end-of-semester concert for performance bands
and was held in the Auditorium at Groves Elementary.
It was a great show! Congratulations to
Tonalta bands Domino Effect, Revolutionary Measures,
The Unknown, F.L.A.S.H., Heroes, Allynce, and
Flashback for a super spring semester!
Tonalta Bands
play for Relay for Life and Riverfest.
Whew! Tonalta bands have been busy!! The bands
performed at Riverfest on May 1, 2010. A good time was had by all, with plenty of boat racing and good music. Also, on April 23, 2010, Tonalta bands played for the Relay For Life event to raise money for cancer research. Originally scheduled for Bulldog stadium, Relay for Life was moved indoors to Nederland High School's dome gym due to the threat of inclement weather. No worries, though, the event was successful and the Tonalta bands helped provide entertainment for the attendees. Thanks to all the Tonalta performers and supporters.
Tonalta Rocks
the Heritage Festival in 2010. Tonalta bands performed recently at the Nederland Heritage Festival. Tonalta bands participating were F.L.A.S.H., Music Makers, Allynce, Domino Effect, and Flashback. Check the

Groves First Friday
Tonalta Performance bands recently provided entertainment for Groves First Friday
event. The event is held on the first Friday
of each month in Groves on Lincoln Avenue between
Washington and Coolidge St. It was a
great evening of fun. Thanks to all the
participating Tonalta musicians and to all those who
came out to support them.
Pecan Festival.
Tonalta musicians recently performed in the Texas Pecan festival in Groves. A fantastic show was enjoyed by all!
Tonalta featured on Channel 6 News
Tonalta recently was featured on
Channel 6 Morning Show. Channel 6 carried a live feed from from Tonalta. Jim Cammack was interviewed by Dan Gresham and a Tonalta Performance Band played. Thanks to Alex, Beau, Colin, Daniel, and Zach for getting up early and playing!
