FAQ

What programs are available at Tonalta?

  • We currently teach guitar, keyboard, drums, vocals, bass guitar, songwriting, music theory, and audio basics. In addition we offer sampler lessons. In sampler lessons you'll learn some bass, guitar, keys, and drums.

  • We currently teach in a variety of settings. Most of our lessons are "private" lessons, meaning you work one-on-one with an instructor. We also offer group lessons and special classes and seminars.

  • We also have bands that record music and videos, and play at area venues such as festivals and concerts.

What are your current prices? 

  • There is a $25 registration fee each semester and lessons are $112 per month.  Tonalta Bands are $100 per month.   Students who take multiple lessons, or, if multiple students from the same household take lessons, the rates are discounted $12 for the additional student(s) or lesson(s).   Students will also be expected to purchase music, which is typically $5-$25 per semester.  The prices quoted above do not include the cost of music.  Price Summary:   Registration: $25 per student,  1st lesson $112/month, 2nd lesson $100/month, Band-$100/month,   Band with lesson $88/month

What ages do you teach?

  • We teach from 2nd grade through adult for all instruments, but kindergarten through adult for certain instruments, such as keyboard, drums, and sampler lessons.

Do I need my own instrument at home?

  • While there is no formal requirement that you have an instrument at home, you must find a way to practice.  Without practice you will not succeed.  We can give you tips on finding good instruments at a reasonable price.

Do I need to bring my instrument to class?

  • We have drums and keyboards at Tonalta to use during lessons.  Guitar students should bring their own instruments.  We provide cables and amps during your lesson.

How long are your lessons and how often do they meet?  

  • Most lessons meet once per week for 30 minutes. Bands typically meet for 1 hour each week, but band times can vary, depending on the needs of the band.. Times will also differ for special topics classes, seminars, camps, etc.

What methods of payment do you accept?

  • We accept monthly payments by EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) only, or the full semester payment can be paid by check or cash.
